The Louisiana Boardwalk in Bossier City will host a tree lighting event at 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17. The 40-foot, beautifully adorned Christmas tree will be lit with the help of Bossier City Mayor Lorenz Walker and Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover. There will be live holiday music performances, including a bell choir, and Santa Claus on his sleigh will be available for photos with children and families. The first 500 children in attendance will receive a free, light-up holiday necklace. Admission is free.
Throughout the 2011 Christmas season, the Louisiana Boardwalk will be feature live music performances. Plus, families will have a great time shopping, dining and exploring the riverfront lifestyle complex that features a movie theatre, carousel, trolley, Bass Pro Shops, and Courtyard by Marriott Hotel.
This kick-off event is just one of many holiday happenings in Shreveport-Bossier - two of the eight cities along the Holiday Trail of Lights. There will be events from November 17 to New Year?s in the sister cities. Some holiday favorites include: Christmas in Roseland (Nov. 25-Dec. 18, weekends); Christmas on Caddo Fireworks (Dec. 3); and Benton Christmas on the Square (Dec. 10).
